Preheat your oven to 350F. Grease and lightly flour a round cake pan (9 inches preferably)
In a bowl, mix together the butter and sugar. Add one egg at a time, ensuring that each egg is combined well before you add the next. Once all eggs are added, add the vanilla extract
In another bowl, combine the baking powder and flour. Grab the dry ingredients and add to the wet ingredients and mix well
Add milk and stir until the batter is smooth. Pour batter into your prepared cake pan
Bake for around 30-35 minutes. A toothpick or knife should come out clean when inserted into the middle of the cake
Allow to cool and your cake is ready to serve
